(ALL DAY) Creating a Distributed Music Performance using Web Technologies

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This workshop will share strategies for distributing music events across an array of mobile devices, such as the mobile phones of a concert audience. We will first discuss new developments in web audio and share templates for various distributed music paradigms. In the second half of the workshop, we will lead attendees as they develop their own web instrument capable of distributing sound events across an array of mobile browsers and/or distributing interfaces to mobile browsers for audience interaction.

The workshop will focus on the integration of three toolkits created by the workshop leaders:
- Rhizome: A web server for participatory performances and installations
- WebPD: A subset of Pure Data vanilla running in the web browser
- NexusUI: A collection of HTML5 audio interfaces compatible with mobile devices

Attendees should bring a computer, and, ideally, a fully-charged mobile device which can run a web browser.
