Cumhur Erkut (M.Sc. 1997, D.Sc. 2002) has received a PhD in acoustics and audio signal processing from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. During his post-doctoral period, he has contributed to national and international projects (EU FP5 and 6). Between 2007 and 2012, he has conducted independent research as an Academy Research Fellow on sonic interaction design (Schema-SID, #120583, Academy of Finland), together with the FP7 IC601 SID project on the same theme. Since 2013, Dr. Erkut cultivates his expertise in sonic interaction design at Aalborg University Copenhagen, by combining the theory and the methods of human computer interaction and audio signal processing. He has worked on rhythmic interactions, product sound design, mobile audio programming, game audio, and recently focused on embodied interaction and sonic interactions in virtual, augmented, or mixed realities. During this work, he first begun to formalize the framework of diversity computing, and currently applies it to all diverse topics of embodied, sonic interaction, for all diverse bodies, with diverse learning and thinking styles.
